2018 Water and Land Niigata Art Festival 7.14-10.8 水と土の芸術祭 新潟水與土藝術祭 Niigata city, Japan 日本 新潟市 日本最大穀倉地的新潟土地上,匯流了日本第一長的信濃川與阿賀野川,源源不絕的水量在出海口一齊湧出,形成日本最大的沙丘與潟湖。 此低窪一帶,有著新潟先民和「水與土」奮鬥的印記,「水的記憶」與「土的味道」更是新潟市民的共同回憶。 2018年邁入第四屆的「水與土藝術節」以「我們來自何處,又去向何方——透過新潟的水與土,凝視過去與現在、思考未來」為基本理念,在大かま 萬代島多目的廣場、NSG會場、天壽園會場內,展出38位作家約68件的藝術作品,試圖體現「大橋——連結新潟、日本和世界」的概念。 Photo: Jing Liao Landscape Art

2016 Setouchi Triennale 瀨戶內海國際藝術祭 瀬戸内海国際芸術祭 3.10 – 11.6 Kagawa, JP 日本香川縣 Setouchi Triennale 2016 continued to pursue the theme Restoration of the Sea. It commenced on March 20, 2016 and was held over three sessions, spring, summer and autumn, for a total of 108 days in Takamatsu and Uno ports and on the 12 islands of Naoshima, Teshima, Megijima, Ogijima, Shodoshima, Oshima, Inujima, Shamijima, Honjima, Takamijima, Awashima and Ibukijima. New art works and events were added with particular emphasis on this year’s sub-themes: the region’s connections with Asia and the world via the sea; the Setouchi Food Project; and sharing regional culture, such as lion dances and bonsai. The Triennale also generated many other benefits. The influx of visitors not only enlivened the islands during the Triennale but also sparked local initiatives directed at revitalization. Many local people were actively involved in making this Triennale a success by helping with the production of art works, manning the reception desks, offering food and hospitality that reflected local customs, and greeting and sending off visitors at the ports. …

2017 Reborn-art Festival 7.22 – 9.10 Ishinomaki, Miyagi, Japan 日本 宮城縣石卷市 The Reborn-Art Festival is a new type of festival where people could enjoy “ART”, “MUSIC”, and “FOOD”. Artworks created by renowned artists from around the world in collaboration with local people will be exhibited in the Ishinomaki and Oshika areas, along with live music performances being held that would give a new twist to your concept of music festivals. In addition to these, people would be able to savor dishes prepared by top chefs of Japan and food specialists of Tohoku. It is now in Tohoku that is hustling to become reborn where you could encounter values and people you would never meet elsewhere. You would even encounter with a new self you never knew before. “Reborn” is a festival that aims not only to regenerate Tohoku, but also hope that you yourself would be “Reborn”.
